Hey Spartans, I hope when you read this your life is rewarding you for all the effort and sacrifices you’ve made along the way [40 years worth].

In light of the recent changes in my household, I’ve been thinking a lot about life and getting some driving feelings about making sure what I’m doing is what I should really be doing. I'm a sentimental person to begin with and the birth of my daughter has only heightened and intensified those feelings. Maybe its been that way for you, too? What A-bout you? It’s OK, you don’t have to answer here, if only to yourself. I know. “Stupid!” “Who cares!” “That’s lame!” I say, “Really?” Just wait. Yours is coming.

So, I happened across this video recently previewing other songs on YouTube for the new My Morning Jacket album Circuital. For whatever reason, I feel compelled to share it here with the idea it could be what just one of you need on any given day.

This is singer/song writer John Prine & Yim Yames (Jim James of My Morning Jacket) doing Prine’s song “All The Best” on David Letterman last year.

It’s damn beautiful and it’s for all of you…but, maybe just a little bit more for some…you know who you are [if you read this].

Don’t be confused, just because this is a beautiful song doesn’t mean I still don’t want to violently smash my computer, trash my cube and go home for the day! Afterall, that’s the Motley way.

As Nikki Sixx once said in an interview, "Just because I'm older, doesn't mean I still don't burn!"

I stand firm that recreational drug use - allbeit now more and more socially/medically excepitable if your carrying the right credentials in AZ & CA , it has eluded me all these years. I was absolutely sober when I wrote that and maybe that's my problem, brother.

No, I wasn't addressing you directly I just knew you'd read it since you're monitoring all the sites activity. The post was just meant as a friendly 'ghost post' for anyone who logged in to read the forum and maybe respond. It was a slow day in my cube and that's how I handled it. I guess I could have just sat there and carved the word "Boner" into my desk with a pen? However, I have a feeling HR and facilities might have had a problem with that.

And, I'm still trying to shake the vivid reunion memories of sitting at the dinner table in the dark basement of the El Zagel, starring at my plate and wondering if I wasn't REALLY at the Royal Fork - overpaying.

Just a crazy thought - but if we all started saving $.25 a day up until our next reunion, we would have roughly $46,725 (based on 150 thrifty and confirmed Spartan attendees) to put towards a social and dinner. With that kind of coin, we could turn our class reunion weekend into a bidding war between the best restaurants/hotels/facilities in Fargo/Moorhead! We could put together a list of places to hold it at, then have those places submit bids regarding decorations, entertainment & menu via our website. They plan everything and submit a bid to us. How does that idea sound planning commitee? Or, we could all just meet at Hardee's on Main for a bite and then head to Oriska for drinks and a show. I'm just saying :)

Was this addressed to me directly or was this a post intended for the forums? Also, were you medically enhanced or just abusing when you wrote that? Just let me know what you were on so I can take some and then it will make more sense to me. Kind of like a decoder key.

By the way, how's it going? Yeah you! Is it really you? Yeah, it's you. You logged in, right? Yeah, you did. Chuck knows you did. He likes that he knows you did, too. I don't like that :) But whatever, right? Right. Anyway, "Hi". Man, it's already been a year and half since our reunion. Sh*t. Where'd that time go? Do you remember? Good times? I hope so. Well, 3 1/2 more until the next one...What are you gonna do until then? Pray they don't make us eat that gruel again at the El Zagel? Good idea. Me too! Except I'm gonna take it a step further and ask that our prayers are answered with a Saturday night social & sit down at Monte's on Broadway...Yeah, that's right...we're renting the whole mother out! Well, you take it easy now and don't forget to be a good husband/wife/father/mother, friend and a good neighbor. We're all counting on you and so are they! Rock on!

Chad,

I made the call to not have Door Prizes at this reunion at the last minute. Due to our lack of planning I did not feel like I could continue to accept the generosity of Jim and his wife. They had already donated signage and other things so to have them be the only ones to donate to the Door Prizes was more than I could expect from anyone.

Now if all of you think that Nicki and I somehow withheld said Fantasy's Door Prizes for our own gain (or pleasure), I will let you ponder on that for a bit. Remember she was 8.99 months pregnant at the time :)!

I do have to thank Jim and his wife again for their willingness to help and donate as much as they did. I am so damn proud to be a part of the class of 89!

Fantasy's Door Prizes?

I see Jimmy Patterson & his wonderful wife had donated items from her place of business (Fantasy's), which were to be used as door prizes at our class reunion. However, I don't seem to recall any announcements or events taking place during the reunion where items of said fantasy were awarded to any reunion attendees (i.e. names being called, elated or surprised faces, giant shaped, awkward buzzing devices, lubricant staind table clothes, explanations w/mach simulation and/or a ruckus class sitting on the edge of their seats cheering for more!) and I was one of the last people to leave.

Now I'm willing to concede, there were those15 minutes I went to use the restroom and ended up talking to Laura Dahl's (Bergman) husband about their beautiful house in Northern Minnesota and how the wolves are now eating all the neighbors dogs. Strange subject I know, but damn if the conversation wasn't flowing. So, in the off chance that all the happy receivables were dispensed of into the willing hands of good "homes" I will rest my case.

However, all things the same I have to ask, "What happened to our Fantasy's Door Prizes?"

Please don't make Philanthropy a dirty word!!!

Worst news I've heard all month and I swim in bad news on a daily basis.
Sam and Max will miss her the most and I can't imagine how much.
But Jodi left an impression on many because of her genuine, straightforward approach to relationships and life in general.
She had a knack for making people feel good about themselves.
I remember running into her at Lauerman's on a rare (for me) return to Fargo and the way she made me feel at ease within seconds, as you would with a close friend you saw every day. She said I always made her laugh.
I wish I had another crack to test that aphorism.

Hi Everyone,

Most of you have probably heard, but Jill and Chris Shea have had a very trying past few weeks. Jill gave birth to their son, Aiden, on August 6th. They found out that he had a virus that was affecting his liver, and had to have an emergency liver transplant in Pittsburgh. Chris was his donor, and both are doing well as of late. There is a Caring Bridge website for them under "aidenshea", with much more information.

Please keep them in your prayers!

I would like to thank you Chuck for the hard work of getting this site up and running besides the organizing of the reunion. I would also like to thank anyone else who has been involved as well.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make the reunion this year. I plan to attend our next one.

It has been great to have the chance to read about everyone and what they are doing and seeing the families that have been started, I have really enjoyed it. I hope everyone keeps on updating. I will try and update when I can I have more pictures to post I just need the time.

I still have a t-shirt I bought at Strouper's Pub. I kinda feel like burning it now.

That mug shot is freakin' me out. Compared to the photo in the yearbook, it's definitely the same guy but a whole other side of him. Wow.

Wow. Sad. I had heard he had trouble keeping his hands off certain students. Didn't know about the scams.

Just think; if he hadn't left the area, Stroupers would have been years ahead of its time as a smoke-free bar in Fargo.
